Asbestos Gallery - Some 3500 products are said to conatin asbestos, here is a very small selection of typical materials

Abestos corrugated paper product - this material usually contains chryostile asbestos
Asbestos insulation material used as lagging to boiler and pipes - this material could contain mixtures of amosite, chrysotile or crocidloite asbestos.

Asbestos cement flue pipes commonly contains chrysotile asbestos but also may contain a small amount of crocidolite asbestos.

Older fuse boxes commonly contain woven asbestos products used as 'flashguards'. This type of material is usually only composed of chrysotile asbestos.

Bitumen-based pads found below metal sinks and draining boards quite often have a small amount of chrysotile asbestos.

External soffits and fascia boards can contain asbestos. These materials are either asbestos insulating board (containing amosite and quite often chrysotile) or asbestos cement containing usually only chrysotile.

Hard, black toilet cisterns (and seats) are quite often found to contain amosite.

Gaskets and friction products may contain chrysotile although newer materials should be asbestos-free.

Vinyl floor tiles from the 1960s and 1970s can often be found to contain chrysotile or possible anthophyllite or tremolite. Asbestos may also have been used within the adhesive as well!
Sprayed coatings, usually containing amosite, can be found in a variety of locations as protection to structural steelwork or concrete.
